Evaluations

Before therapy begins, we will discuss your concerns and reasons for seeking treatment at Complete Scope. Our initial interview process will allow us to learn about how your challenges are interfering with your daily life, hobbies, and social interactions so that we can help you achieve the goals that are most important to you.

Based on your areas of need, we will complete a thorough speech, language, cognitive, myofunctional, or swallowing evaluation. This process allows us to measure your current abilities, set meaningful goals for therapy, and track your progress over time. After the evaluation is finished, a thorough report will be provided with our care plan and recommendations.

We use a variety of evidence-based and hands-on therapy methods, such as endoscopy, manual therapy, oral motor exercise tools, NMES, and respiratory retraining devices to help you progress toward your goals. Home exercise programs are always provided to ensure that new skills are being developed at home, outside of therapy.

Myofunctional Therapy

At Complete Scope, we take a hands-on approach to addressing myofunctional disorders for individuals across the lifespan. Our sessions include exercises and drills with a variety of visuals and oral motor tools like bubbles, whistles, straws, and snacks to reach your goals. By addressing all 4 domains of myofunctional therapy (facial structure, airway, feeding, and speech), we will help you or your loved one:

  • Speak, chew, swallow, and breathe better

  • Prepare for, or recover from, surgery to address tethered oral tissues (e.g., tongue tie)

  • Improve the way that your teeth, lips, cheeks, inner mouth, and tongue rest and move

  • Avoid costly orthodontic treatment resulting from abnormal orofacial function

Our myofunctional therapy sessions take place in person, allowing us to give specific and targeted feedback along the way. We will also provide you with a detailed home exercise plan to support faster progress.

Pediatric Speech Therapy

At Complete Scope, we address articulation and speech sound disorders by combining our expertise in speech sound development and orofacial structure. Using games, books, or activities that your child selects, our speech therapists will guide them to make speech sounds accurately and engage in high-repetition practice. Speech therapy will help your child:

  • Gain awareness of speech sound errors

  • Speak clearly by accurately placing their tongue, lips, and jaw for speech

  • Confidently communicate with friends, family members, and other adults in the community

Parents and family members are always involved in the therapy process to gain a clear understanding of our goals so that they can be easily reinforced at home.
